When I was little, it was socially acceptable for me to spend hours and hours circling things in the Argos catalogue. I’d pick out everything and anything that took my fancy, and hand it to my mum, in the hope that my cute and innocent little face would be enough to persuade her to ask Santa for more presents for me. I might not have got everything on my list, but my Christmas greed wasn’t mocked or chastised in any way. Being a kid is great.
Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to write my mum and dad a massive Christmas list any more, because being an adult means you have to be a polite person who says “oh no, don’t get me anything”. That’s why I thought I’d do a Christmas wish list on here instead. Even though it’s less than a week until Christmas and no-one who buys me things will see it. A girl can dream, okay?!
Anyway, here’s what I’d like for Christmas this year. Or what I’ll buy if I get any Christmas money. Or what I’ll spend my wage on when I get paid. Because spending money is the one of the most Christmassy things you can do.
I’m writing to ask for a few last minute things, that I really want. I think I’ve been fairly well-behaved this year, which means I should get every single thing I want. And more.
I apologise in advance for putting Game of Thrones on this list. I realise, that you probably won’t approve of soft-pornography and graphic violence, but it’s my Christmas list and not yours.
P.S. Please could I have the Blu-Ray version of Game of Thrones, as soft porn and violence are always better in high definition. Cheers!
1. Game of Thrones: Season Six
I’ve already found out that two characters die in this season, and I can’t take anymore spoilers (or anymore covering me ears and humming every time someone talks about it at work), so this is the first thing I’m going to buy if I get any Christmas money. Plus, I really need to know what’s going to happen with the White Walkers!
2. Unboxed by Non Pratt
The two Non Pratt books I’ve read were absolutely amazing, which is why I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. According to the blurb, Unboxed tells the story of four friends who meet up to look through a memory box they made three years before, because their friend Millie, who has recently died, has left a new letter in the box. However, her letter states that they must read out their own letters first, which contain some of their deepest secrets.
I love stories that focus on multiple characters and plot lines, and love any sort of character mystery, so this book sounds like it’s right up my street/alley/Christmas tree. Plus, Non Pratt creates some wonderfully realistic characters, and any book with good characterisation is always a winner for me.
3. Batman Remastered Games
They’ve remastered the Batman games for PS4! They’ve remastered the Batman games for PS4! They’ve remastered the Batman games for PS4! Is there anything else to say really?
4. A New Winter Coat
I’ve had my winter coat longer than I’ve had this website, which currently makes it almost nine years old. One of the pockets is falling off, I’ve already had to replace a button, and IT’S NINE BLOODY YEARS OLD! Definitely time I bought a new one.
5. Lindor Balls
Why would you NOT want Lindor balls for Christmas?
6. Suicide Squad DVD
I was consistently poor for the three months this film was in the cinema, so I haven’t actually seen it yet. I’ll be honest, I’m not expecting much after the reviews, and I don’t think I’m going to like the new Harley and Joker, but I need to see it, so I can at least compare it with the comics. And because Cara Delevingne looks really cool as the Enchantress.
7. The Vision: Volume 2
The Vision is one of my favourite comic book series’ at the moment, so I’m really excited about this. It tells the story of Marvel’s Vision, who has decided to settle down in suburbia with his wife and children. However, their adjustment to human life is not as successful as Vision would have liked, and the sweet tale of family life is quickly transformed into a sinister tale of murder, mistakes and destruction.
The first volume was so brilliantly written, so well-paced and so bloody creepy, that it wouldn’t be very Christmassy of me to leave the second volume feeling sad and rejected in a comic book shop.
8. A Purple Leather Pandora Bracelet
This one here. Andy got me the black version of this for my birthday, and I’ve worn it pretty much every day since. They’re great for casual wear, and they’re so comfortable compared to a lot of bracelets. I’ve actually asked Andy for this for Christmas, so hopefully he’s managed to pick the right one up.
9. Finding Dory DVD
This was another film missed at the cinema this year, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Finding Nemo is one of my favourite Disney movies, I love Ellen DeGeneres, and Dory is hilarious! Why would I not want this?!
10. A Slow Cooker
I think young Amy would be slapping me right now for asking for something so grown-up and boring, but have you tasted beef when it’s slow-cooked? It’s SO good!
I’ve actually wanted one of these for a while now, but I keep forgetting to go out and buy one. Hopefully someone reads my mind, so I can enjoy a life filled with beautiful beef sandwiches.
What do you want for Christmas?
