March is nearly over, which is strange because it seems like we moved into this house forever ago. Apparently we’ve only been here a month though. Hopefully the rest of the tenancy speeds up, because I’m tired of having to complain to our letting agent about the fact the bedroom is leaking. It’s so annoying.
For April, I’m setting myself a few goals, because I’ve been really bad at disciplining myself to do anything at all after work. Apart from eat loads of chocolate and drink loads of Pepsi. Which, although an absolutely amazing skill that I should regularly applaud myself for, is not a good use of my time. No matter how many time I insist that emptying the cupboards is technically cleaning.
1. Camp NaNoWriMo
On my 24 by 24 goals, I mentioned that I wanted to succeed at NaNoWriMo. Unfortunately, I missed the main month, because I ended up having to sort out a mouldy flat and spent most of the month stressing instead of writing. My birthday’s also awkwardly placed at the start of November, so that automatically writes off a couple of days. So, in order to complete this goal, I’m taking part in Camp NaNoWriMo, and I’m determined to make 50,000 words within April. I already have an idea that I’m ridiculously excited about, so hopefully it should all go well!
2. A month without chocolate
So, in February I made it through 18 days without chocolate, then accidentally bought Ben and Jerry’s at the cinema. It all went down hill from there, and I ended up reverting to my usual habit of treating chocolate like it’s air. So I’m going cold turkey again. If I accidentally eat a full box of After Eights I’ll let you know.
3. Sell my unwanted devices
I’m the sort of person who never gets rid of anything. I own clothes that don’t fit me, books that I never intend to read and shoes that have seen better days. Oh, and I also have 3 laptops and 5 phones. That’s every device I’ve ever had since I was 16. I’m now 23. After discovering my house is leaking, I made the decision to sort this out, so I can know exactly what I have and therefore will look after it better. It’s going to take a lot of time to remove all the files from these devices, but it WILL be done.
4. Open a help to buy ISA account
So, in the UK, the government have started a scheme to help first time buyers get a mortgage. House prices over here are ridiculous, which makes it really difficult to get on the property ladder. A help to buy ISA is a bank account that the government contributes to, in order to help with this. They give you 25% of what you pay in, as long as the money is going to be used on a deposit for a house. As I REALLY want a house, this is a no-brainer. I really need to get into gear and get saving.
5. Learn to play a new song on the keyboard
I’ve been meaning to do this for ages – I just haven’t decided on a song yet! I have no idea what to choose, but I have a whole month to do it in so hopefully I’ll be able to make a decision in that time.
Now I’m off to eat as much chocolate as possible before Friday.
What are your goals for this month?
