2015 is almost over, so now is the perfect time to look back over everything that’s happened. So many things have changed this year, and I’ve had so many great experiences. I’ve moved out, got a new job, and spent lots of time with my friends and family. Here’s a review of my 2015.

*WARNING* Horrible soppy, mush is about to happen! *WARNING*
At the end of 2014 I’d just embarked on a brand new relationship. I had no idea where it was going to go, or anything that would end up happening. I was excited, but scared. Now, I’m living in a tiny, but lovely, flat with him. He’s my best friend and I’ve never been happier.

Soppy mush over.

Another major life milestone was moving out of my parent’s house. I didn’t move away for uni, so I was really excited to finally get my own home. Well, “our” own home, if we’re keeping this soppy. It was very sad to move out, but I’m happy that I did it. It’s nice to know I’m able to support myself now. And I’m now 100% capable of washing my own clothes. I’ve only dyed one jumper grey, as well.

I also landed my dream job after the funnest, but most nerve-wracking application process I’ve ever gone through. I was ridiculously happy when I found out I’d got it; I literally jumped throughout the entire phone call!

Hire me: my exercise-induced breathing is on point.

A few weeks ago I graduated with a distinction. I am now a Master of Creative Writing! Which means I can write good.

Unfortunately, I lost my Grandad early this year. It came as a big shock, but at least he didn’t have to spend years in hospital. 91 years and he’d only been in hospital for a couple of days. Not many people can say that.

Fun Stuff

This year, I went to Birmingham Comic Con twice. I went to London Comic Con for the whole weekend and had the best time ever. I went to steam-punk fairs, saw In This Moment, Katzenjammer and Amanda Palmer live and went to an amazing Halloween party at my cousin’s house. I celebrated my birthday with my family and my best friends, and got the loveliest gift I’ve ever received from Andy. I went to Cheshire multiple times to see Andy’s family, and laughed when friend get stuck in a tree outside a pub in Leeds. It’s been one of the funnest years ever and I’ll never forget it.

I watched a lot of movies in 2015. Andy showed me a variety of different films, including the majority of the Avengers films I hadn’t seen, Hobo with a Shotgun, Kung Fu Hustle and Mr Deeds. I also saw quite a few films at the cinema, like Big Hero 6, Ant-Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Inside Out. On Christmas Eve, I finally saw Up – it’s such a lovely film!

TV programmes for this year included Dragon Ball Z, more Orphan Black, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, more Orange is the New Black, more Modern Family and more Big Bang Theory. Jessica Jones was probably my favourite new show of the year – I was hooked throughout!

I didn’t really read as much as I wanted to this year. My favourite reads were Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne, Batman: Hush, and the new Ms Marvel series. Hopefully I’ll have more time for reading in 2016, most of my time this year was spent working or writing essays for my Master’s degree.

Christmas this year was a little bit different. I spent half of Christmas Day with my family and Andy, then spent the next three days down in Cheshire with Andy’s family. I had a lovely time with everyone and had LOADS of food. Andy bought me an iPhone-controlled BB-8.

He’s so cute!

I also got enough chocolate to ruin any dieting I have planned for January, so I may have to rethink my New Year goals…

Yeah, the diet isn’t happening.

How was your year? What did you do for Christmas?

  1. Sounds like you had an amazing year, despite the fact that your granddad passed away, and for that you have my condolences. It’s never fun to lose a loved one. I lost my grandmother in 2010. She was the only grandparent that I had known. The others (my mom’s parents), I did not get to know at all.

Ah, yes, moving out. I moved out of my dad’s house for the first time and in with a roommate. Needless to say, that was short lived and moved in with someone else. This happened in the year 2012. I then moved out on my own like I originally planned and wanted and I loved it.

I have yet to see the new Star Wars movie, and I really want too. I have seen a lot of movies myself, but these were old movies that I have either watched by myself, or with Tristan. I am so happy that you got into a new relationship and it’s going well.

I hope that the new year will treat you right.

  2. It’s always nice to look back on the year and realise everything you got to do. How exciting but terrifying is moving out of home for the first time!? I’m glad things are going well with you and Andy. And that BB-8 IS SO COOL!

My Christmas was very quiet this year. There are dramas going on in my extended family so I bailed on the Christmas celebrations because I knew I wouldn’t have been able to hold my tongue and would have probably yelled at one family member who said some nasty things about my mum earlier in the year, and I didn’t want to ruin everybody else’s Christmas so decided just to stay home. So I mainly just spent the few days with my immediate family which was lovely 🙂

Hope you have a happy and safe new years!

  3. Yay, I’m glad your relationship is going so well! Also, congrats on moving out and getting your dream job! Sorry to hear about your Grandad though 🙁

Sounds like you had a lot of fun events in 2015 🙂 The BB-8 you got is so cute! I want one too! And wow, that’s a ton of chocolate and snacks. If I had those, I’d be constantly tempted to snack on them, haha.

My year was pretty good, and I also split my time during Christmas. Part of it was with my family and part of it was with my husband’s. I hope 2016 will be a great year for you too! Happy new year!

  4. LOL! Wow that chocolate over load! Yeah, not diet for sure, but it looks awesome and delicious! haha That is awesome that your relationship is going so well. ♥ I’m happy for you.

I’m sorry to hear about your grandad though, it is hard to lose someone.

Good luck for the next year!

  5. I am glad to hear that you’ve been happy moving in with your boyfriend! It’s awesome to move out because you’re on your own and can do ~anything~ you want without your parents directly knowing about it. Congratulations on getting that dream job! Hard work comes with great rewards ;). More congrats to getting your masters degree!

I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather’s passing.

Jessica Jones was pretty addicting. I still have a couple of episodes to go, but my binge watch was on point! BB-8 is adorable :3.
