Life Catch-Up: February

So romantic
There’s nothing more romantic than spending an hour trying to get your chocolate fountain to work…

Oh February. You were a weird month. You were filled with ups and downs and proposals and aubergines, and I honestly don’t know how to feel about you. Sad? Happy? Strange? Hopeful?

February wasn’t nearly as successful as January was. I wasn’t an organised human being, I didn’t make an effort with my goals, and I had to shove a bunch of flowers into half a plastic bottle because I’m not adult enough to own a vase. I also managed to break a plate by childishly throwing another one into the washing up bowl. Oops.

February taught me that pasta can be cooked badly, that onions don’t always make you cry and that you can’t make an omelette if you’re too moody/lazy to crack some eggs. Always have a frozen pizza as back-up, guys!

It also taught me to always expect the unexpected. Especially when the doctor brings a photographer into your appointment to take a “professional photo” of your vagina. That actually happened. Watch me end up on Pornhub.

PokΓ©mon!
The best (only) proposal I’ve ever received

While February was a huge failure, they were a few great bits. My best friend asked me to be her bridesmaid, I danced on stage with Kate Nash (but my dress was so low-cut that my boobs are probably all over the internet), and I went on a lovely day out to Meadowhall. I ate lots of nice food, went out for giant cake again, and spent a few nights in the pub with my friends. I celebrated Valentine’s Day with lots of food, a failed attempt at making a chocolate fountain work, and loads more food. Because there is nothing more romantic than stuffing your face with Camembert.

Sorry there’s no breakdown of this month. I barely did anything from my usual headings, so I didn’t feel like taking you through a whole month of failures. Oh well, there’s always March!

Speaking of March, I’m going to Liverpool Comic Con on the 11th, where I will presumably spend all of my money then cry because I can’t afford food. But Comic Con! Me and a group of friends are going as DC villains, and I can’t wait. I’m still in the process of making a new Poison Ivy costume, but this time the leaves are way smaller and the dress is way bigger so it’s taking a lot of time. Hopefully it’ll be ready before the event!

  1. Haha, I know what you mean about comic con and food! I remember one time my dad and I went to London Film and Comic Con, spent all our money on merchandise and had none left for food!! We survived on half a packet of wine gums between us until mum arrived in the evening and fed us. Oops. We’re a lot better at planning now.

Chocolate fountains can be a nightmare, I have one but very rarely use it as it’s a pain to set up and awful to clean afterwards.

I love that you got ‘proposed to’ with a Pokeball. πŸ˜‰

    1. That’s hilarious! I’d have been so hungry on just wine gums! How did you survive?!

I still haven’t cleaned my chocolate fountain properly. We stuffed so much chocolate down the middle that it’s making me question whether I should even bother trying!

  2. Your February sounds super eventful! And LOL at getting your vagina photographed? That must have been an interesting experience that probably not everyone can say they’ve got done, haha.

Your bridesmaid proposal is really cute!

That’s also exciting that you’re going to Comic Con. My goal is to go one day (but not this year). A Poison Ivy costume sounds really fun. I would love to see how it ends up looking!

    1. I’d definitely recommend going to a comic con! They’re so much fun, and there’s so much to see. And some of the costumes are amazing!

  3. I can’t say I’ve ever had a photographer turn up in a doctors appointment to take a photo of anything πŸ˜› let alone my vagina. the doctor who did my last pap smear did answer the phone while doing it though… twice.

  4. Photographed?! Did they tell you why? I’d be a bit concerned if they hadn’t.

And that’s cool that you were able to dance on stage with Kate Nash. That makes for a very exciting month.

I’m going to a con next month, the BF and I decided to do some casual cosplay. We are going as Rogue and Gambit. My favorite Marvel couple! I found the perfect jacket now I’m just looking for the right green pants. I’ve decided to sub yellow chucks for her yellow boots. I’m hoping it comes out nice.

I look forward to seeing pictures of your Ivy!

    1. Luckily they did tell me why, but it was still nerve-wracking. The best part was the doctor repeatedly muttering ‘this is very undignified’!

Good luck with your cosplay. I’m sure it’ll be great!

  5. OMG I love that Pokeball asking you to be a Bridesmaid! Amazingly cute! Yeah, I definitely know what you mean about gaining weigh or even losing it but still that’s awesome you’re going to Comic Con!

  6. Your February sounded a lot more eventful than mine did. I mostly worked. Nothing too exciting. LOL.

That is such a cute bridesmaid proposal. Professional photos of your vagina? Interesting. Can’t say that’s something I’d ever do…

  7. It’s okay if you weren’t as successful in February compared to January πŸ™‚ There’s always March and the months after.

Sounds like you had quite a few memorable moments in February, though! Yay for being a bridesmaid at your best friend’s wedding. Great food is always a good thing. Maybe you’ll get a chocolate fountain to work by next February!

You have a marvellous time at the Liverpool Comic Con! Hope you will complete your outfit in time! Enjoy the con!

  8. For a while, the only vases I owned were because my husband bought the flower arrangements that came with a vase, haha. It’s not something I ever think about buying! That sucks about the plate though. I actually broke a glass bowl a couple months ago, and somehow we’re still finding pieces of glass here and there…

Whoaaa, that’s super weird about having your vagina photographed. I didn’t know that was a thing?? How awkward!

That bridesmaid Pokeball is so cute! What a good idea! I also think celebrating anything with food is the way to go. For us, Valentine’s Day is an excuse to eat a lot of food too πŸ™‚

Have fun at the Comic Con! I’d love to see how your Poison Ivy costume turns out!

    1. I never knew medical photography was a thing at all, even though it’s pretty obvious when you think about it. I imagine it’s a really weird job to have!

  9. HAHAHA, wow, Amy. Sounds like February was quite a month for you! 🀣 Don’t beat yourself up for messing up your goals, there’s always new days to find motivation and start over or continue! πŸ™‚ I have to say I wasn’t as strict with myself last month in terms of lifestyle, but life happens sometimes πŸ˜‰

Wait, wait, you were at the doctors and a photographer came in to do what now? πŸ˜‚ Is this an actual thing? What procedure was this and ARE YOU OK? πŸ˜‚

I’m glad you had fun at Meadowhall! Tell me next time you go – I used to work there and so avoid it on most occasions but would love to meet with you one day! πŸ˜€

Have an awesome time at Comic Con!

    1. Haha yes! They actually did. I had to sign a form and give my permission first though! So strange!

And I’ll definitely tell you next time I plan on going to Sheffield!

  10. I still can’t get over the fact that someone took a professional photograph of your vag. I am STILL howling over that part. 😭

Hey, sometimes life throws us curveballs and it’s just how we swerve. Sometimes we can’t, but that’s cool too. I’m sure March is going to be great for you and you’ll go back to smashing goals!

I LOVE the way your friend asked you to be her bridesmaid. It so adorable! Enjoy Comic Con ~ I know London’s is in May, but I have no idea if I’ll go or not.

    1. I didn’t know the NHS had actual photographers who come with their own lighting equipment but they do. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!

I’d love to do London Comic Con again but it’s so far to go. Hopefully one day!

  11. I wouldn’t say your February was a total failure. You’ve pushed through it and even got a proposal to be a bridesmaid! I find stuff like learning that pasta could be cooked badly as a learning experience. Hope March will be a great month! Sounds like you have some exciting events coming up at Comic Con!

Though, I wouldn’t feel comfortable showing my doctor my private parts- let alone get it photographed. I hope you’re okay! @___@.

  12. I’m so sorry about that impromptu photograph. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

But lol at your post. I totally understand the whole being lazy thing. It’s because of laziness that I eat out all the time.

    Have fun at Comic Con!

  13. Oh goodness gracious I hope you are OK – that photograph incident does not sound good AT ALL. I hope it was literally for medical purposes otherwise I’m coming over with a damn pitchfork! It’s hard enough for a female to get just a checkup regarding her private parts!!!!! 😞

Love the Pokeball with your friend asking for you to be a bridesmaid! πŸ™‚ Is she having a Pokemon themed wedding? πŸ˜„

Camembert is good. πŸ˜„ But a shame that the chocolate fountain was playing up so much.

Hope you have fun at Comic Con!

    1. I don’t know what she’s doing for her wedding yet, but that would be so cool!

And yes, the photo was for medical reasons, but it was mortifying all the same!
