Life Catch-Up: Chocolaty August

I’m going to start this post by bringing attention to the fact that I dieted for half a day last Thursday, and exercised three days in a row last week. Then the bank holiday weekend happened, I bought lots of chocolate, and decided watching re-runs of Gilmore Girls would be more comfortable than doing odd hip movements in my living room. So, basically, I failed. Again. I am a failure. But if being a failure means I get to spend three days on the sofa eating more than necessary, then I think I’m okay with it.

August has mostly involved settling into a new house, seeing friends, and eating out more times than I can count. Nothing really significant happened in August. Unless you think hatching a Mr. Mime on Pokemon Go is significant. But you probably don’t.

I have, however, really enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. Me and Andy watched lots of Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives, ate lots of nice things, and I even had time to read more of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. It’s definitely been a relaxing weekend, which is refreshing after having to deal with so much stress this year. Hopefully, all the bank holidays (and weekends) will be like this from now on.

I also made some bracelets and necklaces over the weekend:

Sad clown Necklaces

There is literally nothing more cathartic than stabbing a Lego figure in the head. And there is literally no statement weirder than that. Sorry.

This morning, me and my mum visited the new Lindt shop in Leeds. It was so beautiful. We spent ages staring at chocolate, before deciding to get a pick ‘n’ mix. I chose to get two of each flavour, because I’m all about trying new things I’m the greediest person ever. Don’t worry, I did share them with Andy.

If you’re ever in Leeds, I’d definitely recommend visiting. But then, I’d recommend visiting anywhere that sells chocolate really. Because chocolate.

In other important news, Andy’s parents brought us a friend for Chewbacca.

Friends

I can’t wait until I’m living in a house full of cardboard cutouts. And, no, that’s not sarcasm.

Advice To Myself For September

  • You don’t need a brownie to help you cope with missing the bus. You don’t need anything to help you cope with missing the bus. Stop buying things when you miss the bus, dammit!
  • You’re never going to eat those bananas. You’re just going to severely bruise them on the way to work, then bin them. You are not nice to bananas. Stop kidding yourself.
  • Remember to get money out of the bank for your weekly bus pass before the bus is due on Monday morning. This is incredibly good advice, especially if you want to avoid a panicked run to the cash machine.
  • Make sure there’s always bread at home. This will ensure you don’t get angry with the kitchen cupboards for their breadless existence.
  • Stop swearing at the man on your exercise DVD. It’s not his fault that you can’t understand why someone would want to do another 8 lunges.

Goals For September

  • Actually sell my old laptops. This has been a goal for this entire year and I’m no closer to achieving it.
  • Actually do my tax return. Same goes for this goal.
  • Apply for a passport. I’ve never had one before, so it may be a very long process.
  • Sort out the stuff at my parent’s house.

So that’s my very short review of August. I haven’t been doing as many ‘Life Catch-Up’ posts lately, because there hasn’t really been much to talk about. I’m thinking of reducing them to a monthly thing anyway, so I can have more time to write other things. I have so many post ideas, but no time to work on them!

How has your month been?

  1. Oh boy. I feel you about the running for cash for your bus pass. I turned off the automatic top-up on my transport card, which was a dumb move, meaning sometimes I was on my phone and waiting for the stupid laggy system to accept my payment so I could enter the barrier. Fucking embarrassing. I just turned it back on, but I had turned it off in the first place because I hate automatic payments. ?

It may feel like you undid all that exercise but at least you did it! Imagine if you ate the chocolate and didnโ€™t exercise at all. ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep it up, because the more you keep trying, the better you will be at cutting down on the chocolate. And if chocolate is your vice, so be it…! Mineโ€™s candy. ๐Ÿ˜› Just sayinโ€™. Other peopleโ€™s would be ice cream. Or desserts in general. Or coffee. I guess a good motivator is to try and exercise more if you eat more. Then your body will just be fighting with itself with exercise vs. chocolate and then hopefully realise that exercising feels much better! Hopefully it doesnโ€™t go the other way around. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have faith in you!

I love the necklaces, they are cute and quirky. I used to like those kinds of necklaces myself but I grew out of that style… I still very much love the style, though, and will forever ogle at little bottle necklaces and geeky charms. ๐Ÿ™‚

Keep going Amy, you are doing better than you think you are! Also, I donโ€™t think passports are the pain they used to be, so fingers crossed. The part that sucks is getting a photo that lines up with all the governmentโ€™s passport requirements and shit. The actual documentation isnโ€™t half bad, IMO. In Australia, anyway. :p

  2. Sounds like I freaking glorious bank holiday weekend, to be honest! How was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? I have yet to read it, but I haven’t heard great reviews.

Love the bracelets and necklaces! Do you sell them?

Hahahahaaha, the banana thing is me as well. Then I get all sad because it looks icky. Good luck with your goals for September!

My month has been pretty good – had my birthday, went to Barcelona, went to Notting Hill. Pretty awesome ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I love the necklaces! I’m going to go ahead and ask this even though Chynna already has: Do you sell them?

Good luck with your September goals. Don’t worry about dieting and failing due to eating chocolate. We’re females. That should be enough excuses to eat chocolate.

  4. Sounds like a wonderfully relaxing weekend! Sometime we need those long weekends to unwind and recuperate from our jobs and other RL things. I know I cherish those long weekend! And sometimes we’re just so burnt out that those long marathons of movies or shows are just needed.

Those necklaces and bracelets look nice, by the way. What a way to be productive!

Good luck with all your goals in September! The passport one caught my eyes. I hope that goes well! I’ve always had a passport (since I was a baby), so it feels a bit strange to read people getting passports as adults ^^; Still, just be patient when you apply and get one!

  5. It’s ok to take some time free and just enjoy relaxing and everything. I think August was a good month for you. I never watched Gilmore Girls, but I want to do it. But from what I know they have a lot of seasons, so I don’t know if I have time for that. Lately I was into watching movies. They take up a shorter time so I can get over with them in 2-3 hours.

Good luck with your September goals. Oh, and congratulations into moving. I hope you sort out the stuff from your old house so you can take your mind off it. I know how stressing it can be.

  6. Good job on exercising 3x in a row last week! I think the fact that you went up and did something even though the bank holiday weekend happened is a good thing. It sounds like you had a lot of relaxation going on during the weekend! The bracelets and necklaces look cute!!

It’s cute how you have cutouts in your house.

Those are good goals to have and advice to remember! Good luck and you can definitely do it~~

  7. Sounds like you had a very nice relaxing bank holiday weekend ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the necklaces you made! ๐Ÿ˜€ They look like the necklaces you’d see on depop ๐Ÿ˜› You should definitely look into making a little depop shop and selling them, I see so many girls do it ๐Ÿ˜€

I don’t usually like chocolates that much but I like the Lindt T_T I sometimes have too much and end up feeling completely sick. ๐Ÿ˜› I’ll have a look at the shop next time I’m at Leeds ๐Ÿ˜€

Good luck with your September goals! I hope the passport process isn’t that long, I know getting a replacement was less than a week for me D: But that’s a replacement ๐Ÿ˜›

  8. I think it’s good to have a relaxing 3-day weekend ๐Ÿ™‚ I want a Mr. Mime! I have several Tauros and Farfetch’d, and I joke with my husband that we should vacation in Europe or Australia next to grab the other region-specific ones, haha.

Ooh, the bracelet and necklace charms are cute. The Lindt shop sounds nice too. It would be hard to choose what to buy with so much chocolate in one place! Getting two of each flavor is a good idea. I also think it’s funny that you got another cut-out to go with your Chewbacca one ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck on your September goals!
