I’ve not done a life catch-up for the past couple of weeks because I’ve been really busy. Unfortunately the blog always ends up taking a back seat whenever life happens, but I really am trying to manage both. I just need to get into a good routine and waste less time staring at Facebook.
It’s so beautiful…
So anyway, the week before last was spent catching up on my NaNoWriMo novel. Writing 50,000 words in one month is incredibly difficult, and I ended up ridiculously far behind in the last week. Unfortunately, I only managed to do 44,000 by the end of April, but that is a lot more than I thought I would write. I’ll be doing a post on my experience with NaNoWriMo soon, hopefully.
Someone from our letting agency came round to look at our roof (finally) and thankfully they confirmed that there are holes, and that water is leaking in. We’ve had ‘it’s just condensation’ used as an excuse so many times, that it was a relief to hear someone say that it’s definitely more than that. They should be fixing everything soon, so hopefully we’ll be able to start enjoying the new house, and actually be able to put our stuff back in the bedroom. Our living room is so cramped right now, because of all of the stuff we’ve had to put downstairs!
Last weekend (the 7th), it was Andy’s birthday. I took Thursday and Friday off so I could surprise him by decorating the house and making him a cake. As you’ll probably know from the last post I’m not the best at making cakes, so please try not to laugh at my attempt.
My Superman ‘S’ is so wonky. So not super. So not good.
The “decorating of the house” basically involved lots of banners, a table full of snacks, and labels saying what I’d put on each section of the table. I made a personalised banner for the cardboard cutout of Chewbacca that lives in our living room, and another personalised banner with Andy’s name on. My friend Nicola also came round to make some lightsabers out of balloons, to go with all the Star Wars stuff I bought Andy.
To top it off, I blew up 170 balloons so we’d be able to spend the day getting annoyed that we had absolutely no walking space. I am so romantic. I think that it looked pretty good when I’d finished – well worth tripping over balloons for the entire weekend!
On Saturday we went down to Andy’s parents in Cheshire for a couple of days, which was lovely. The weather was amazing, and we ended up spending a lot of time relaxing in their garden. Definitely needed after being so busy for the past few weeks!
How has your week been?
